About Us

All Saints is an ecumenical partnership and the congregation come from a diverse range of cultures and denominational backgrounds. Everyone is welcome and we love to see new people and we hope you will feel at home with us.

Our services are based around the formats normally used by the Anglican and Methodist Churches. We use the organ or piano for our hymns and worship songs. Members of the congregation take part in the bible readings and prayers. Our services also normally include Holy Communion and everyone is welcome take part as they wish.

We know that if you haven't been in church for a while or new to church the service could seem a little daunting. However don't worry, just experience the time as you feel able. No one will bother whether you sit or stand, sing or not! You can access recordings of our Sunday services on YouTube which can give an indication of what to expect.

We feel that as Christians we should be working to serve the local community and with this in mind we work closely with the Community Association and provide space to host fellowship and recovery support groups for other organisations during the week.

Our History

The Shared Church of All Saints was officially opened on 21st September 1974.  The first services had taken place on Sunday 7th July of that year.

The church was shared by between Anglicans, Methodists and Roman Catholics and formed an important part of the Oval Community Centre.

Each denomination held its own weekly services but from the outset there were regular oportunities for joint worship.  The denominations also came together for mission fund raising and for social events.

In 2008 The Anglicans and Methodists agreed to work  more closely with each other and now worship together as a single congregation.

Regretably, in 2013 the Roman Catholics had to cease their Masses at the church largely due to shortage of priests, both locally and nationally.
